Today we have another entry into the Gents and Dames Vintage Style Parade. I asked the fabulous Mary to show of her latest Eva Dress pattern creation. I just love the gold with the purple accents, don’t you? I also need to go on a tour of someday soon. It has been on my bucket list for years!
Name: Mary A.
Location: Santa Cruz, CA, USA
About Me: I make clothes from vintage patterns. My favorite era is the early sixties, but I also love the 50s…really any era from the 20s on. I make more 60s than anything else. Of course, I was young in the 60s and perhaps this is just a way to recapture youth! I love to sew and will try anything once.
About My Outfit: This is a dress made from an Eva Dress pattern (it’s called ). I also made a 1938 frock for my friend. She’s in the second picture where we are wearing jackets. I made these outfits to wear to an evening tour of Hearst Castle — the docents dress in
period costume for the tour. I was with a group from Santa Cruz on a weekend tour of San Simeon and the Castle and we all dressed in costume.
It was a freezing night but we suffered for fashion. [I love this!~ Debbie]
Where I Shop: I made it from the pattern mentioned above. I bought fabrics from a local shop — the green is a silk/cotton blend as is the violet. I used a lace overlay on the bodice and sequined trim for the straps.
The dark green jacket is a from a — in silk dupioni with embellishment and beading.
On my wish list: My first preference would be a 60s mod dress. The black and white one I especially covet right now!
